In pics: One year on, the most memorable images of 2011 election campaign

This time one year ago Ireland was in the middle of one of the most dramatic general elections the country has ever seen. Remember all these memorable moments from the campaign?

A WEEK IS a long time in politics, as Harold Wilson once said – so a year can feel like an eternity.

It was exactly one year ago this week that the general election campaign was in full swing.

Fine Gael were pushing their 5 Point Plan in front of every camera they could find; Labour were optimistically touting their Gilmore for Taoiseach posters; Fianna Fáil were trying to paper over the cracks in the party; the Independents were quietly gathering steam in constituencies around the country – and Dylan Haskins was seemingly ubiquitous.
