DUBLIN-LISTED DCC is to buy BP’s liquid petroleum gas (LPG) distribution business in the UK for €50 million.

The distribution and business support services group says the €51.3 million cash deal is expected to be completed at the end of September 2012.

BP’s LPG business supplies 87,000 tonnes of fuel to industrial, commercial and domestic users, employing 116 people across the UK.  The move will solidify DCC’s position as the leading oil and LPG sales, marketing and distribution business in the UK said its Chief Executive Tommy Breen.

DCC’s energy business is the company’s largest. Last year it bought Maxol, rebranding it as Emo Oil. Many of the brands run by its food and beverage arm are household names in Ireland. They include Kylemore Restaurants and Robert Roberts Coffee.
