Appeal for witnesses after man critically injured in assault

The 30-year-old was assaulted at 2.30am on Sunday.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Cork city yesterday.

The 30-year-old victim suffered serious injuries in the assault.

He was taken to Cork University Hospital, where his condition is described as critical.

Gardaí are investigating the incident, saying it occurred at Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork City, on Sunday 7 September at approximately 2.30am.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly those who were in the vicinity of a night club on Oliver Plunkett Street between 2am and 2.45am on 7 September, to contact them at Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021 4522000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or at any garda station.
