Man (30s) arrested after man dies at house in Co Leitrim

Shortly after 9pm Thursday, gardaí responded to reports of an incident at a residential property in Arderry, where a man in his 40s was found unresponsive.

A MAN IN his 30s has been arrested after another man died at a house in Co Leitrim.

Shortly after 9pm Thursday, gardaí responded to reports of an incident at a residential property in Arderry, a rural townland in Drumreilly, Barony, where a man in his 40s was found unresponsive.

He was treated at the scene by emergency services but was pronounced dead a short time later.

A man in his 30s is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a garda station in County Leitrim.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí attached to the Sligo Leitrim Crime Functional Area have commenced an investigation into all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man following an incident in County Leitrim on Thursday, 11th June 2026.”

A senior investigating officer has been appointed and the local coroner and the office of the state pathologist have been notified.

The body of the deceased remains at the scene, which is preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

Investigations are ongoing.
