Mince products recalled from Lidl and SuperValu over salmonella risk

Shops selling the products have been advised to display recall notices, and customers are being urged to not eat the impacted products.

A NUMBER OF pork mince products sold in Lidl and SuperValu have been recalled due to the presence of Salmonella, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has confirmed.

The recall applies to specific batches of 100% Irish pork mince and fresh pork mince products supplied by Kepak, with use-by dates of 16 June 2026.

The affected products include Lidl Family Pack 100% Irish Pork Mince (800g) and SuperValu Fresh Irish Pork Mince in both 400g and 800g packs.

The FSAI has issued a Category 1 alert, and retailers selling the mince products have been advised to remove the implicated batches from sale immediately and display recall notices at point of sale.

Customers are being urged not to eat the affected products.

Salmonella infection can cause symptoms including diarrhoea, fever, headache and abdominal cramps, typically within 12 to 36 hours of infection, and can last several days.

In some cases, illness can be severe enough to require hospital treatment, particularly among vulnerable groups such as the elderly, infants and those with weakened immune systems.
