Man dies in early-morning apartment fire in central Cork

The fatal fire broke out shortly after 4am, at Charlemont Terrace on the Wellington Road in the north inner city.

A MAN in his 20s has been killed in an early-morning fire at an apartment complex in central Cork.

The blaze, at Charlemont Terrace on Wellington Road in the north inner city, broke out at around 4:10am.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and his remains were removed to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The scene remains sealed off for a technical examination. There were no other injuries as a result of the fire.
