McDonald's will be serving breakfast all day, but not in Ireland

Good news for Egg McMuffin lovers.

MCDONALD’S IS TO make its breakfast menu available all day in the United States.

After a trial run in a number of outlets in July, the initiative is set to be extended nationally from 6 October onwards.

Bloomberg Business reports that McDonald’s  is trying to bounce back from its worst sales slump in more than a decade.

The website adds that an internal company presentation shows selling the Egg McMuffin all day could increase sales by as much as 2.5% a year.

An all-day breakfast is already available in McDonald’s outlets in Australia.

A McDonald’s spokesperson previously told DailyEdge.ie the all-day breakfast will not be coming to Ireland any time soon.

Under the new plan, the full morning lineup won’t be available all day. Restaurants will sell either muffin- or biscuit-based sandwiches, along with hot cakes, sausage burritos, fruit-and-yogurt frozen desserts, porridge and hash browns.

McDonald’s might get rid of other items as a result.
