McFeely house goes up for sale as he loses repossession appeal

Bankrupt property developer must give up the keys to number two Ailesbury Road in Dublin 4, which goes on sale for €3m.

THE PROPERTY DEVELOPER Tom McFeely has lost a High Court action challenging an order for possession of his home in Dublin 4.

The National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) has taken over the mortgage on Mr McFeeley’s home in Ballsbridge, after the High Court said there was nothing wrong with the repossession order.

Mr McFeely had contested NAMA’s right to take the home, arguing that he was not the right person to appear before the repossession court as he was a declared bankrupt. However, the case appeared to be “open and shut” the court said.

In August, the High Court ordered the former IRA hunger striker and his family must vacate the home after he defaulted on a €9.5m mortgage.

McFeely rose to public attention  late last year, when more than 240 resident of the Priory Hall apartments complex were moved out of their homes due to serious safety regulation breaches. Mr McFeely was behind the development.

Earlier this month, Dublin Labour TD Seán Kenny called on the Garda Síochána to launch a criminal investigation into Priory Hall.
