Man impersonating garda hijacks jeep, steals wallet from elderly driver

The jeep was later located in Castleshane.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after a carjacking and robbery in Monaghan.

At around 4.45pm today an elderly man was stopped in his jeep at Creeve, near Scotch Corner in Monaghan. A man, impersonating a garda, then proceeded to rob the driver of his wallet and left the scene in the car.

A manhunt was launched by Monaghan gardaí and the jeep was later located in Castleshane. A man in his 50s was arrested.

A second man, aged in his 40s, was also arrested in Castleblaney and both men are being held at Monaghan garda station.
