More than 620,000 passengers expected at Dublin Airport over Christmas

The figure shows a 10 per cent increase in holiday travellers compared to last year, said the DAA.

MORE THAN 620,000 passengers are expected at Dublin Airport over the Christmas holiday period, the Dublin Airport Authority has revealed.

From today until 3 January, hundreds of thousands of travellers will fly in and out of the airport to fulfil Christmas plans.

This Friday is expected to be the busiest day before Christmas, while 2 January will see extra passengers due to the popularity of post-holiday skiing trips.

The DAA has advised all passengers to check which terminal their flight departs from before arriving. Aer Lingus, Etihad Airways and all American carriers now operate from Terminal 2.

The airport has also asked travellers not to gift wrap any presents before flying.

A Dublin Airport spokesperson said, “Many passengers take a lot of care and time to wrap Christmas gifts for family and friends overseas. We would ask them not to wrap these gifts so that they are not disappointed if they are requested to open these packages at the passenger screening area.”
