Murder investigation launched after man’s body found in Co Clare

One man has been arrested in connection with the death and gardaí say the area remains sealed off pending a technical examination.

GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED a murder investigation after the body of a man in his 20s was found in Cappabeg, Co Clare, this morning shortly.

The body was found in an open space just after 7am.

One man in his early 30s has been arrested and is being detained at Ennis Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The area in Cappabeg has been sealed off pending a technical examination. The body is still at the scene and the state pathologist’s office has been notified.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have any information on the incident or who was in the Cappabeg area between yesterday evening and this morning to contact them on 065 684 8100 or via the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111. Gardaí say that a number of taxis are understood to have been in the area last night and are appealing to the drivers to contact them.
