POLICE IN LONDON have made a sixth arrest in the ongoing investigation surrounding last Friday’s bomb attack on a train in the west of the city.
A 17-year-old teenager was arrested in the early hours of this morning at Thornton Heath in south London.
The male is the second teenager to be arrested in the fast-moving investigation.
To date, five other men, ranging in age from 18 to 48, have also been arrested in London, Dover, and south Wales.
“We now have six males in custody and searches are continuing at five addresses. Detectives are carrying out extensive inquiries to determine the full facts behind the attack,” said Dean Haydon, commander of the Metropolitan Police’s counter terrorism command.
We anticipate that the searches will take some days to complete and may cause further disruption. However, it is important that we continue with these searches and I’d like to thank all those affected for their support, patience and cooperation.
29 people were injured in the attack last Friday when an improvised explosive device in a large white bucket apparently failed to detonate fully when it went off during morning rush hour at Parsons Green station.
Some commuters suffered burns, while others were injured in the stampede to the exit that ensued.
The bombing was the fifth terror attack in Britain in six months, which combined have claimed 35 lives.
