  • Ohmygod, really ?.
Enda has a “Five Point Plan” ?
    He should have said.

  • it does not matter how good a debater Michael Martin is, bottom line he was part of a govt that landed us in this mess, he was a silent member of the fianna fail cabinet (did he mention his party by name once tonight)
that led this country to ruination. He was a member of a govt that blatantly denied the IMF were in Ireland before Christmas. The Govt of which he was part of blatantly lied yet he now wants us to believe he is some sort of radical with his we must do politics differently lingo. His politics is now costing me 210 euro per month in a universal social charge to pay for seanie and his cronies. I cannot wait until Friday to give Fianna Fail (Micheal’s party in case he has forgotten) the answer his radical politics deserves. You and Fianna Fail wrecked our country now you deserved to be wrecked in return.

  • Martin`s communication skills really outshone the others. I`m suprised at how quiet Gilmore was, and Kenny was just the same as ever.
It was a poor debate overall, with nothing discussed that would demonstrate confident action to be taken.

  • Kenny comes across as a puppet who has learned off by heart his “5 point plan”, makes me wonder who is the real puppet master in Fine Gael. Gilmore and Martin definitely the more accomplished when it comes to speaking.

  • “Christian Irelan”? What is Enda Kenny living in the 1950’s? I want to see progress in Ireland. I want to see equality in Ireland. Equal rights for all people living in Ireland

  • Enda seems to be more showshow than showbiz. Martin is on the ball espicslly as a speaker but everything about him says he’s on the make

  • Who won? Angela Merkel and Nicholas Sarkozy, that’s who.

  • Surely government is about substance not style ? Why does it matter that one has a better tv ‘style’ than another ?

The country needs a leader with ideas and substance to his plan. A leader with a vision for the future who engages in positive engagement, not the constant sniping and negativity

  • Michael Martin has gotten away with abdicating all the responsibility for his last 14 years in government. He continually ignores the issue anytime it is mentioned.

I for one am looking forward to when we the people finally find out what has being going on behind closed doors for the last 14 years and the wheels of justice finally start to roll in this country.

I hope for my kids sake that I’m wrong about Enda.

Where Gilmore is concerned I think he ruined Labours chances of more seats by believing the media hype about him I really think he’s full of hot air.

  • Kenny..has lost the plot…a total embarrasment tonight…:”log on to www” to see our plan…….When are they all going to get real???

  • Gilmore has good composure, but the one liners are so hokey and sickly sometimes. It’s like he’s more showshow than showbiz

  • This guy Kenny can’t be given an overall majority….I hope David Mc Williams will be with him when he goes to Europe to save us all

  • I think Marium lead the pack…

  • I’d vote for Miriam in preference to the other three any day.

  • Not a FF or Martin supporter but i really thought he handled this debate well or at least better than the other 2. Kenny was pathetic, managed to avoid arguments as much as possible and let everyone else dig their own grave.Real cowardly but then again we have come to expect that from Enda. It was like he was reading from a script for the whole thing. Eamonn Gilmore wasn’t bad, more Taoiseach-like than Enda Kenny.

Look Kenny & Gilmore can’t answer any question posed to them in relation to the future of this country, without reffering to Martins 14 year rule of doom, this 5 point plan looks great on billboards but in reality it will make us the Irish people suffer more, Fine Gales past in govement is not all sunshine, in the last recession Fine Gael put a tax on Childrens shoes, when you look at the hidden polices in there 5 point plan it makes you think why vote for Fine Gael, people wake up and smell the bullshite.

  • Fine Gael dont support me as an Irish speaker in my own country. Nor do they want to recognize Gay Marriage. There wont get my vote. Enda Kenny prances around a direct answer.

  • I really think Enda Kenny is away with the fairies , He comes across being ” priestly ” , which alone scares me . Definitly a Gilmore bed fellow.Michael Martin has a lot to prove and i think he has his finger on the pulse better that the other 2 wana be’s

    • Were we watching the same debate? Martin was defensive, aggressive and the way he kept interrupting the other two, he was downright rude.

It’s a great pity that he had his finger elsewhere for 14 years

    • Michael Martin was flogging a dead horse and thankfully no one bought it !!
He has the same arrogant Fianna fail demeanor as the likes of Mary Harney and Conor lenihan
In other words–never admit to being in the wrong even when its obvious to all around you that you should take responsibility for what your government has done to this country in the last 14 years. He held several posts as minister and is part of the cronyism system that brought down this country.
And , this is coming from a FORMER Fianna Fail voter–and all my family think the same!!

  • Gavin, so what you mean is who was the least shite? We don’t produce political leaders any more, we produce politically disabled! The best thing that they could do for Ireland is to get out of the way.

    • i wouldnt vote for the ind runner in my area know enuf about him to turn me off .independents are not our answer to the great mess we are in.we need a party thats got the experience of how to deal with the issues in which we are faced with .a bunch of independents for small local issues isnt going to solve the bigger problem.

  • After the program and for about an hour there after last night, the pie chart showed Enda as the winner by a shirt bit more than Eamon. Martin was far behind. Now this morning Martin seems to be a clear leader of the debate. Its as if they have a PR agency on retainer to duke such polls. there was no way even a half intelligent person would see him as a winner in that debate last night. He was nowhere on healthcare, job creation or green energy. All he was was an interruption to the others when they were talking including Mirriam

It was a bit depressing to realise that was our choice — but Gilmore appeared to be the only adult there, so I chose him.

Look Kenny and Gilmore are not able to give a solid answer to any question posed to them without reffering to Martin and his fourteen year rule of doom, they spend most of their time talking about the past and far less about what needs to be done in the future,

  • What about the big issue of the night. Who will pay for the Irish dancing??

  • I think every one of them is a joke. You have Kenny who keeps harping on about his ” 5 point plan ” and Martin who keeps attacking Kenny at every opportunity and Gilmore just sits on the sidelines.

    Reply
  • I am totally amazed at the sniping at Enda Kenny . He was the only one with a complete plan there to night.Martin was most ignorant and I really can not understand how Miriam O Callaghan allowed him to get away with such rudeness. It is time R.T.E found a proper interviewer for these programmes In fairness I thought it was Gilmores best debate

    • stephen voting for independents you can be sure there will be more people heading for foreign shores.enda deff didnt have his homework done.if kenny gts in we are in trouble.but i think from what i heard from eamon gilmore when he got the chance to talk without kenny and martin snapping the face off each other.gilmore did come across as the best, appeared to be well able to handle martin the rude bully.he also put kenny in his box wen kenny was waffling on.its changed my decision iam now voting labour.gilmore most up front there.michael martin needs to go back to school and learn some manners.

FG policies are the same as FF and will cause more hardship for the Irish people. Labour is the only party that will keep FG in check if they get into government. We need a strong coalition for stable and representative government.

  • Were we watching the same debate? Enda has a five point plan – we’ve all understood that message, and its content. What do the other two have, exactly? Poor aul’Martin has absolved himself for all responsibility of all the bad decisions that resulted in the ruination of our economy – and the global recession is only part of our problem. His claim to fame? – the smoking ban. Jolly well done you. The constant butting in and criticism of FG’splans smacks of a man with nowhere left to run or hide.

  • None of them. Every one of them is an absolute moron. Its absolutely disastrous that one of them is going to end up running the country. If I HAD to pick one though, Gilmore.

  • Right friends, tomorrow is the day when we finally have our voices heard!! Use your votes wisely, vote for who you believe can turn this country around, not for who has promised to fix the pot-holes in your local village. If we screw this up again, our children will be leaving our country for decades to come!! This is probably the most important election you or I will ever vote in so lets make it count……..

  • You need to change the overall percentage figures – it appears to be rounding down all part percentage figures (even those over 50%)

Despite the fact that Gilmore was acting like Enda’s lapdog during it!
Couldn’t believe how much he was kow-towing to him!!!
I chose M&M (thankfully, most people seem to agree with me! Despite FG’s army of Twitteratti!)

It is time Michael Martin crept back under the rocks. Who does he think he is fooling? Not one intelligent act or utterence from him in past 14 yrs.
