THE RECOVERY PROCESS following Superstorm Sandy has begun across the east coast of the US, which was the latest area to have been struck by the force of the downgraded former hurricane.
When it raged across the Caribbean, Sandy left 38 dead and homes, businesses and roads destroyed. In the US, 40 have been reported dead across eight states, with damage seen throughout New York, New Jersey and up to the Appalachian areas.
As the New York Times reports, the death toll was heaviest in New York City, with 22 people being killed.
The same paper set up cameras to take time-lapse photographs of the storm as it passed through New York, which has been compiled into a video by YouTube user Richard Shepherd.
