Shopper dies after throat slashed in French supermarket

The incident happened in a supermarket in La Ricamarie, close to Saint-Etienne in eastern France earlier today.

A SHOPPER IN a French supermarket has died after her throat was slashed by an attacker who fled the scene and was still at large this afternoon, police have said.

The 67-year-old woman, thought to have been a member of a travelling community, was attacked around 10am local time (9am GMT).

The incident happened at the Geant Casino hypermarket at La Ricamarie, a small town near Saint-Etienne in eastern France.

The supermarket was closed and police have launched a hunt for the assailant.
