The men were caught by gardaí in the stolen taxi just one hour after they threatened the driver and forced him out.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after they hijacked a taxi in the early hours of this morning.

The taxi picked up the two men at 2.20am in the Castleknock area of Dublin and drove them a short distance to Laurel Lodge Road where they told him to stop the car. Both of the men then threatened the driver, ordered him out of the vehicle and drove away.

The stolen taxi was stopped by gardaí on the Howth Road at 3.20am and the two men – aged 28 and 20-years-old – were arrested. Gardaí said a knife was also recovered.
