TWO MEN INJURED in yesterday’s plane crash at Cork airport have been released from the city’s university hospital this afternoon.
A hospital spokesperson confirmed to TheJournal.ie that the four other survivors remain in hospital in “a serious but stable condition”.
Six people died yesterday morning after a Manx2 flight from Belfast crashed on Cork airport’s runway whilst attempting to land for a third time in heavy fog.
Following treatment Donal Walsh, who informed people of his survival by text shortly after the crash, and Laurence Wilson have been discharged from Cork University Hospital today.
In statement they thanked the hospital for its “wonderful care and support” and added:
We want to express our condolences to the families of the deceased and say that our thoughts and prayers are with them at this very difficult time.
We would like to thank all the emergency services; the ambulance service, fire service and An Garda Siochana. If it wasn’t for their swift action, the loss of life would have been greater.
The four others who remain in hospital are Heather Elliot, Brendan Mallon, Peter Cowley and Mark Dickens.
