Kidnap

Woman (20) allegedly kidnapped from Dundalk and taken to Newry

Two people appeared in court in connection with the alleged incident. The woman escaped to safety after being held in a house in Newry, police said.

PSNI DETECTIVES IN Newry are investigating the alleged kidnapping of a 20-year-old woman from Dundalk, late on Thursday night, 20 December.

Police said that the incident began around midnight on Thursday night and went into Friday morning. The victim was dragged into a car in Dundalk and was taken to a house in Newry from which she later escaped and managed to run to safety.

A 21-year-old male appeared at Newry Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with the incident. He was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, indecent assault and motoring offences.

A 25-year-old female arrested in connection with the same incident has been released on police bail, pending further inquiries.
