Woman killed in Louth traffic incident

The pedestrian was pronounced dead after being brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda this evening.

A FEMALE PEDESTRIAN aged in her 70s has died following a traffic incident in Drogheda, Co Louth this eveing.

The incident occurred at approximately 5.30pm, when the woman was struck by a car at Scarlet Street, Drogheda. The woman was taken by ambulance the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the motor car, a woman aged in her 60s, was also taken to hospital.

The street where the incident occurred has been closed pending technical examination and diversions have been put in place.
