Poll: Should there be armed Garda units at Dublin Airport?

It is understood that a decision to have armed units in place has been made in the wake of the Brussels attacks.

GARDAÍ ARE TO take up an overt armed presence at Dublin Airport and Dublin Port for the first time, according to a report in this morning’s Irish Times.

The paper reports that the new Regional Support Unit (RSU) will be tasked with providing a presence at both locations.

While a unit of this type has been planned for some time, it is reported that the final decision to have the RSU presence at Dublin Airport came at a meeting yesterday in the wake of the Brussels attacks.

This would mean that heavily armed gardaí in Swat-style uniforms will be a regular presence at the airport for the first time.

Today we’re asking: Should there be armed Garda units at Dublin Airport?
