THE FATHER OF missing man Trevor Deely has said he will not give up on finding his son alive.

Michael Deely, speaking at National Missing Persons day at Farmleigh House in the Phoenix Park, described how his family will not relinquish hope that Trevor could be found alive 16 years after vanishing from Dublin.

Trevor went missing after attending a Christmas party on 8 December 2000, and was last spotted on CCTV footage which showed him crossing Baggot Street Bridge and walking towards Haddington Road in the city centre.

Gardaí have recently reopened the case into Trevor’s (pictured below) disappearance, which is being headed from the Pearse Street station.

Detectives have begun the process of re-interviewing family and friends to try and unearth new information.

Speaking to TheJournal.ie this afternoon, Michael said: “We still have hope. There was never any crime scene. There was never any information from any source. There’s been nothing. Nobody knows. But you have to keep hope. There has been nothing negative That’s a positive.

“The gardaí are now examining the whole case again and hopefully it will bring up some new information. This is a day which brings everyone together. It’s important that more people know about what is going on with missing persons.

Speaking at this year’s event, Minister David Stanton added: “The significance of the day is that families have a day to commemorate their missing loved ones. It is a day to remember family members, first and foremost, as a person, and not merely as a missing person.”
