18-year-old arrested after man (66) sustains serious head injuries in attack

It happened at the man’s house in Tipperary. He’s been transferred to Cork University Hospital for treatement.

GARDAÍ IN Cahir, Co Tipperary, have launched an investigation after a man was seriously injured in an attack at his house in  Kilcaroon, Ballyporeen, overnight.

It happened at around 2.45pm yesterday when violence broke out between two men in the house.

The injured man, who’s aged 66, was taken to South Tipperary Hospital in Clonmel, and later transferred to Cork University hospital.

He received head injuries, which are described as serious. The house has been sealed off for forensic tests.

An 18-year-old man was later arrested in Cahir, and taken for questioning to the town’s garda station.

He’s being held under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
