IF I HAD the money I’d buy…
A big, bad, beautiful V8-powered SUV with seven luxurious leather seats and a whole heap of added extras and technological tricks up its sleeves. I’d buy a car that looks imposing on the road and has vice-like four-wheel-drive grip to inspire confident driving. I’d buy an Audi SQ7.
Why an Audi SQ7?
The Audi SQ7 is a monster of a car. It is the performance version of the Q7 and it is mighty powerful and capable.
This car is packed with new technology including a trick new electric-charged diesel engine, which combines turbocharging with an electrically powered compressor to reduce lag. The 435hp 4.0-liter V8 features two turbochargers and a 48‑volt electrical subsystem – an electric compressor sits between the engine and air intercooler, and this kicks in before exhaust gases have a chance to build up in the turbochargers.
This eliminates turbo lag and also helps the engine produce 435hp and a massive 900Nm of pulling power.
Apart from the engine, the car has a lot going for it. It is jam-packed with tech and safety features and all sort of lavish items that you would expect from a luxury car brand.
Oh, and of course it fits the whole family as it is a proper seven-seat family vehicle with a huge boot, which is quite spacious even with the third row of seats in place. So there’s room for your luggage too.
What’s special about this particular one?
This particular model has plenty of option boxes ticked which sees exterior additions of an electric panoramic glass sunroof, Sepang Blue pearl effect paint, chrome package and 21-inch five twin-spoke Audi Sport cast aluminium alloys. The cabin is clad in Rotor Grey Silk Nappa leather with silver piping, the front sport seats are heated, and there is a reversing camera.
As standard the car also comes with the excellent Audi Virtual Cockpit and a Bose 3D Surround Sound system with 19 speakers including 3D sound speakers, centre speaker and subwoofer.
What does it look like in action? Well, in this video, with Le Mans and DTM champion Mike Rockenfeller behind the wheel, the SQ7 looks like it is faster than a 10,600hp Red Bull Alpha Jet!
Who else drives one? None other than Captain America himself. The Cap’n took to the wheel of an Audi SQ7 in the movie Captain America: Civil War to chase down Black Panther.
It is the vehicle of choice if you have to save the world, after the school run obviously.
It costs €139,995. What else could you get for the money?
If you are really after a big, bad, SUV then, for the same money, you could have this brand new Range Rover.
… or you could give up cars altogether and go live on the beach in this beachside apartment in Spain.
