AN INVESTIGATION HAS been launched following the deaths of two men off the Galway coast this morning in a boating incident. At 10.40 a man’s body was found washed up at Inishbofin, and the second man’s body was then found trapped under a dinghy under the boat. The men were in their late 50s and early 60s and both were wearing lifejackets. No distress calls were sounded from the boat.

SEPARATE CRASHES IN Offaly and Dublin have left two dead. A 22 year-old man died on the N7 near Rathcoole in Dublin after a crash at around 1.15 am, with two other people in the car also injured. All three were taken to Tallaght Hospital where the 22 year-old later died. A separate two-vehicle crash involving a car and a bus on the Birr to Tullamore road at around 10.30pm last night  left one woman dead.

CONNACHT HAVE LOST out 23-21 to Italian minnows Cavalieri Prato in their first Amlin Challenge Cup match this season. Connacht were ahead 13-3 at half-time following an Ian Keatley try. Prato fought back though and triumphed despite great kicking from Keatley throughout.

POLICE SAY IT is not yet clear whether a man who was found with serious head injuries overnight in County Tyrone was the victim of a crime. The man was found is a garden outside a house in Coalisland at around 10pm last night. He was rushed to hospital after he was found and the PSNI are now appealing for information about how the man sustained the injuries.
