Meet some of the first babies of the year born in Irish hospitals today

As 2026 gets underway, proud parents across Ireland are ringing in the new year with some very special arrivals.

WE’RE BARELY 12 hours into 2026, and already a number of babies have been born in maternity hospitals across the country.

Over at the Coombe Hospital in Dublin, three babies arrived within minutes of each other just after midnight.

The hospital’s first New Year’s baby was Baby Kash, who was born at 12.02am.
Kash weighed 8lb 5oz and is the second child of parents Rebecca Burke and Keane, who are from Dublin 8.

He was also welcomed by his older brother Klay.

Just three minutes later, at 12.05am, Baby Leo made his arrival.

Leo weighed 8lb 1oz and is the first child of parents Danielle McNamee and Troy, who are from Lucan, Dublin.

Moments later again, at 12.06am, Baby Anjali was born.

She weighed 6lb 13oz and is the second child of her mother Ranjitha Sivakumar, who is from Dublin.

At Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital, the first baby of 2026 arrived just 35 seconds after midnight.

Baby Elliott was born at 00.00.35 to parents Rachel and Adam Deak from Rathnew, Co Wicklow.

He weighed 8lbs 1oz and was welcomed into the new year by his parents and midwives at the hospital.

Later in the morning, the Rotunda welcomed Baby Laso, who was born at 1.11am.

He weighed 6lbs 8oz and is the son of parents Zilan Aziz and Halo Mohammed, from Dublin 15.

Another arrival followed at 2.25am, when a baby girl was born weighing 8lbs.

Her parents are Eanna Rennicks and Sean Tobin, from Navan, Co Meath.
