Worker hit in face as thieves armed with baseball bat stage off-licence raid

The man declined medical attention after the attack, but was left shaken.

POLICE IN SOUTH Belfast are appealing for information after a raid at an off-licence in the Lockview Road area last night.

Two men – one of whom was armed with a baseball bat – escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash after the robbery.

A man in his 20s was hit in the face during the raid – but declined medical attention afterwards.

However, both he and a female staff member – also in her 20s – were left shaken.

“One of the men is described as being approximately 6ft tall and of above average build. He was wearing a black waterproof coat and had a Belfast accent,” Detective Sergeant James Johnston said in a statement.

“The other man is described as being approximately 5’8″ tall, of slim build and was wearing a dark coloured coat, a grey hooded top and had a Belfast accent.”

The robbery happened at around 8.45pm.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
