Three men charged with plotting to behead a member of the public

They were inspired by a speech from an Islamic State group spokesman.

A COURT IN London was told today that three men arrested two weeks ago had planned to behead a member of the public.

Nadir Ali Sayed (21), Yousaf Shah Syed (19), and Haseeb Hamayoon (27) appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court this afternoon, charged with planning to commit acts of terrorism.

The three were arrested on 6 November at three addresses in the London area, as part of what the Metropolitan Police called “an ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism.”

Prosecuting solicitor Rebecca Mundy today told the court the men planned an “imminent” attack which “involved them beheading a member of the public, using knives to do so,” the Guardian reports.

They had been inspired in their plot by a speech from an Islamic State group spokesperson, she told the court.

The three suspects were remanded in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey on 4 December.
