10 places to get a good cup of coffee in Dublin

Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee.

LAST YEAR, WE compiled a list of places in Dublin to get a decent cup of coffee.

But with new coffee establishments popping up left, right and centre in the capital, we decided it was time to show some love for some of the newer kids on the block…

1. Legit Coffee Co, Meath Street

Legit Coffee Co may still be a relatively new kid on the block, but it has quickly established itself as the best spot for a cuppa joe in the Liberties.

Make sure you try their sinfully delicious pastries while you’re there.

2. Java Republic, Molesworth Street

Java Republic is one of the country’s top roasteries and now it has its very own café in the city centre. With excellent coffee and treats, it’s the perfect place to sit down and have a catch up.

3. MIMA Coffee Company, Ranelagh

This coffee shop, located right at the Beechwood Luas stop, made headlines last week when it made genius use of the Luas tracks during last week’s industrial action.

As Luas commuters well know, it’s one of the best places to grab a cup of coffee on the go. Stop by next time you happen to be in the vicinity of Beechwood, yeah?

4. Proper Order, Smithfield

Proper Order has just opened up shop in Haymarket, Smithfield, and it has already proven a hit with customers. With cool interiors and superb coffee, it’s easy to see why.

5. Love Supreme, Stoneybatter

Not only does Love Supreme serve beautiful coffee — roasted by Dublin coffee maestro Fergal Brown, no less — but it’s also a haven for chocolate aficionados.

According to the website, the in-house “chocolate emporium” stocks “exclusive chocolates from around the world by makers who create beautiful and thoughtful products”.

6. Little Bird, South Circular Road

Little Bird is a coffee shop and yoga studio that recently opened on the South Circular Road. It’s a quaint little oasis of calm, and we reckon they have the cutest coffee cups in Dublin.

7. Wigwam, Middle Abbey Street

Pop into Wigwam to pick up an expertly made cup of coffee from Vice Coffee Inc. and a doughnut from Dublin Doughnut Co.

Win win.

8. Thirty Four, Lennox Street

Thirty Four describes itself as a “work, café and record store space”. It stocks magazines, hosts lovely afternoon gigs and serves seriously good coffee from Full Circle Roasters. In other words, it’s not your average coffee shop.

Pop in, won’t you?

9. Bang Bang, Phibsboro

Injecting some life into Phibsboro’s scene is Bang Bang, a deli and greengrocer that just so happens to do some of the best coffee in Dublin 7.

They also run a “pay it forward” system whereby you can opt to pay extra for coffee/tea/cake, which the next customer then gets for free.

10. Full Circle Roasters, Stoneybatter

Should you happen to be in Stoneybatter, a stop into Full Circle Roasters for coffee and a giant gooey cinnamon roll is a must.
