The Daily PollTHERE WAS A heated exchange during Leaders’ Questions yesterday over a €100,000 tender for a bike shed at the National Maternity Hospital.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald criticised the spend, calling it a “slap in the face to taxpayers” during a cost-of-living crisis.
McDonald also referenced a previous controversy when €335,000 was spent on a bike shed at Leinster House.
In response, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the bike shed would benefit hospital staff cycling to work and that “value for money should apply”.
The Taoiseach said he was informed that the bike shed will cost €32,000 and not €100,000.
