Man killed when his car struck a ditch in the early hours of this morning

The 24 year old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A YOUNG MAN has died in a single-vehicle collision in Cork this morning.

The 24 year old’s car struck a ditch before 2am at Killeens in Blarney. He was the driver and the sole occupant of the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his remains removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place later today.

The road is closed for garda investigations.

He is the 59th person to be killed on Irish roads so far this year and the second since the May Bank Holiday began.

Gardaí have appealed for all road users to take “extra care as we approach the end of the holiday weekend”.
