SEVERAL HOUSES WERE evacuated and an army bomb disposal team was called to respond to the scene after a viable bomb was found at a house in Edgeworthstown, Co Longford this afternoon.

The device was found during a garda search of the building.

According to the Defence Forces, its team arrived at the scene at 1pm this afternoon.

Road closures had already been put in place, and a safety cordon placed around the scene.
