Armed robbers escape with cash box from Castleknock shopping centre

The pair fled with a sum of cash taken from a cash-in-transit van.

TWO MEN WHO appeared to be armed with a weapon made off with a cash box from a cash-in-transit van at a Castleknock shopping centre today.

Gardaí said the incident happened at about 11.45am.

No money has been recovered and nobody has been arrested.

Notes kept in cash boxes are usually protected by dye-based security systems. If the box is opened unlawfully, the notes are stained as the ink explodes to permanently mark the legal tender.
