Man arrested after raiders disguised as postmen stage violent robbery

The men made off with a safe containing jewellery in the raid at Georgian Village in Castleknock.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with a violent home raid that took place in the Castleknock area of west Dublin on Friday morning.

Two men disguised as postal workers gained entry to a house in the Georgian Village estate shortly after 11am on Friday, armed with a gun.

The occupants of the house were threatened, and the men made off with a safe containing items of jewellery.

No injuries were reported in connection with the ordeal, a Garda statement this evening said.

One of the occupants managed to escape from the house as the robbery was ongoing.

The arrested man was detained in the Dublin area today, according to gardaí.

He’s being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown Garda Station.

The investigation is ongoing.
