THE STRIKING FACADE of Castleton is one of Sandymount’s most well-known landmarks.

It is located in the heart of Sandymount village, close to the strand, and sits on 0.37 acres.

The house is said to offer ‘rus in urbe’ (the illusion of countryside created by a building or garden in the city), and there is off-street parking behind its electronic gates. Built in the 18th century but ‘gothicised’ with castle-like features in the 19th, it once belonged to one of Ireland’s most famous families.

It’s on sale for €2.35 million.
