A three-person family syndicate scooped the €17 million EuroMillions jackpot

Some people have all the luck.

LAST UPDATE | 17 Dec 2025

A FAMILY SYNDICATE in Co Cavan has scooped the €17 million EuroMillions jackpot last week.

The Anglo-Celt has reported that the winners are a father, son and daughter from Cavan town, who bought the winning ticket at a Lidl shop on the Athlone Road on the day of the draw, Friday 12 December.

According to the paper, the family issued a short statement through their solicitor, James M Donohoe & Company, saying they were “over the moon” after discovering they had landed the jackpot.

“This is a life-changing sum of money to win. They are absolutely delighted,” the statement said.

The winning ticket was only checked a few days after the draw, after news broke that the €17 million prize had been won locally.

The ticket was scanned in Cavan town before being secured overnight in a local bank.

Yesterday afternoon, all three family members signed the back of the ticket together before formally contacting National Lottery headquarters.

A spokesperson for the National Lottery confirmed to The Journal that the winners have made contact with its prize claims team and that arrangements are now underway for the family to collect their winnings.

The win marks Ireland’s second EuroMillions jackpot of the year, following a €250 million prize claimed in July.

It also adds to a recent run of lottery luck in Cavan, after a local player won €1 million in the Daily Million draw at the end of November.
