DoneDeal is now letting users find cars using ChatGPT prompts

DoneDeal said the AI chatbot is intended to “complement, rather than replace” its existing website.

DONEDEAL IS LAUNCHING an app within AI chatbot ChatGPT that will let users search for cars by typing conversational prompts instead of using DoneDeal’s website search.

The app, which is available from today, lets users describe what they are looking for in plain language. This can be the budget, location or how the car will be used.

ChatGPT will then return relevant DoneDeal listings and links users through to full ads on the platform, where sellers can be contacted directly.

Shoppers can access the tool by searching for DoneDeal in the ChatGPT app directory, and using ‘@DoneDeal’ in a conversation to begin a search.

DoneDeal stressed that the ChatGPT app is intended to complement, rather than replace, its existing website and app.

In a statement this morning, DoneDeal said the new search option is aimed at buyers who may not be sure exactly what type of car they want.

The AI chatbot will allow shoppers to “narrow their search, surfaces relevant filters, and returns tailored results in real time,” the statement added.

“This app in ChatGPTnot only simplifies the car-finding process, it also reflects DoneDeal Cars’ core proposition: we want buying a car to feel good,” DoneDeal General Manager Rob Hume said.

“DoneDeal Cars delivers this through a simple-to-use platform, a trusted experience, and the widest selection – backed by the strength of a beloved iconic Irish brand.”

The launch comes as more consumer platforms experiment with conversational tools alongside traditional search, though buyers are still urged to carry out their own checks before committing to a purchase.
