Diver who was airlifted after getting into difficulty has died

The incident was reported after 5pm this afternoon.

A DIVER WHO was airlifted off the coast of Clogherhead after getting into difficulty yesterday has died.

The Clogherhead Coast Guard and the RNLI had launched rescue efforts, arriving minutes within receiving the report at 5.26pm yesterday evening.

The diver was winched by the Coast Guard helicopter, and then airlifted to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Gardaí confirmed this morning that the man subsequently passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
