Man questioned over Cobh hit-and-run

A woman in her fifties was seriously injured after she was hit by a car in the Co Cork town yesterday morning.

A MAN HAS been detained for questioning in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Cobh, Co Cork yesterday morning.

A 52-year-old woman was out walking when she was hit by a vehicle, which failed to stop, at Ballynoe Hill in the town, close to the junction of Ballynoe Hill and the Tay Road.

She has been taken to Cork University Hospital, where she is said to be in a serious condition.

A man is being held for questioning this morning at Cobh Garda Station under the terms of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

Gardaí are also appealing for any witnesses to get in contact.
