Cocaine seizure worth €100,000 made by gardaí in Dublin

Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with the seizure.

GARDAÍ SEIZED ONE kilo of cocaine in Saggart yesterday at 4pm, as part of ongoing investigations targeting serious criminal activity in the Dublin region.

Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, supported by the Serious Crime Task Force, were operating a stop and search operation when they found the drugs.

The two men, aged 27 and 57, were arrested for drug trafficking offences and brought to Clondalkin Garda Station where they were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Follow up searches yielded a further quantity of cocaine. The total street value of cocaine seized in this investigation is estimated at €100,000.

Both men were subsequently charged in relation to the detections and are scheduled to appear before Blanchardstown District Court at 10.30am on the 17th October 2016.
