Commuting liveblog: It's quiet but traffic is building

Here’s all the traffic, transport and weather news you need this morning.

HELLO THERE, A very good morning to one and all and welcome to Tuesday’s commuting liveblog.

Paul Hosford here, I’ll be with you until after 9am as another working week gets under way.

So stick with me for all the latest traffic, travel and weather information from across the country.

It’s quiet enough out there, but it’s starting to build near the M50 at Lucan. If you’re headed that way, probably time to jump in the car.

In Laois, AA Roadwatch reports that the N80 Carlow to Portlaoise Road will stay closed until later after a crash yesterday.

In terms of the weather out there, it’s going to be raining this morning, but that should clear before a few showers develop in the afternoon.

So, bring an umbrella, but just in case.

If you are driving today, make sure you have tax and an up-to-date NCT or you might end up like this Dublin driver.

The M50 at Ballinteer is busy southbound, which isn’t great news if you work on that side of the city and are still in bed.

Not great news if you’re on this bus, but at least it is in the bus lane.

Here’s something to keep you amused on your commute.

It’s what happens when the Miami Heat basketball team’s mascot tried to flip over a group of other mascots.

Be careful with your Honda Civic, there’s a horse outside.

On the N11 southbound, that is.

Temple Hill to the Merrion Gates is taking over 20 minutes, with some reports that it’s closer to 35 minutes.

For reference, it takes eight minutes without traffic.

Here’s how Dublin city is looking this morning:

And in Cork, the middle parish is fairly busy:

Not great news if you’re travelling on the M50.

Having a stressful commute?

This is 12 minutes of British drivers swearing and it is both beautifully compelling and oddly satisfying.

A 64-year-old pedestrian has died after a collision in Laois. He was hit by a car on the N80 at Dysart at around 8.30pm last night.

Heading across the M50 this morning? Leave yourself some time.

It’s thankfully been a quiet enough day on the roads and rails today.

Except for Drumcondra. Drumcondra is always busy.

Be careful on the M50 today. Between horses and fires, it’s all go.

Some news from Galway:

Well, that’s it from me for today.

Stay safe out there and have a wonderful Tuesday.
