Giant pumpkins grown by a Cork teacher (pictured with a football for size comparison) Servatius Antonius/The Journal

Will you carve a pumpkin for Halloween?

A teacher in a Cork city school has grown a giant pumpkin to display for students.

A TEACHER HAS grown a giant pumpkin to display for students at the secondary school he works at in Cork city.

Servatius Antonius said he has grown a pumpkin so large it nearly broke his weighing scales.

This isn’t Antonius’ first time growing huge pumpkins, two years ago he grew one which reached 78kg, and he’s pretty sure this year’s pumpkin is heavier – but he said he can’t tell for sure until he gets a stronger scales.

He’s bringing the huge squash into his school tomorrow to get the students excited for Halloween and the mid-term break.

The giant pumpkin has got us wondering: Will you carve a pumpkin for Halloween?
