Today’s arrest marks the second in the case as investigations continue.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man in his 20s on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Daniel Aruebose.

In a statement gardaí said, “As part of the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Daniel Aruebose, gardaí have this afternoon, arrested a male aged in his 20s on suspicion of murder”.

It is understood the arrest was made off a flight at Dublin Airport. The man is being held at a garda station in Dublin.

In December, police in Brazil arrested an Irish citizen understood to be suspected in connection to Daniel’s death.

A spokesperson for Brazilian police said that the man was arrested over an immigration issue, and would be deported to Ireland.

Today’s arrest marks the second in the case as investigations continue. A woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of Daniel’s murder in December, but was released without charge.

The boy, who would have turned eight on 12 December 2025, was last seen alive at his home in the Gallery Apartments in Donabate at the age of three.

Concerns for his welfare were raised to gardaí by the child and family agency Tusla on 29 August 2025.

On 17 September, gardaí recovered the human remains of a child on open ground in Donabate and DNA analysis has since confirmed these remains to be those of Daniel.

Following enquiries conducted to date and based on information available, gardaí commenced a homicide investigation.

A spokesperson said gardaí continue to keep Daniel’s family informed of all developments in this ongoing criminal investigation.
