US INVESTIGATORS HAVE discovered two suspicious packages addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden a day a number of suspicious packages were sent to Democrat politicians and critics of President Donald Trump.
Earlier today, New York police also found another package from a building associated with Robert DeNiro in the Tribeca neighbourhood of Manhattan.
Biden has been among Trump’s most prominent critics, saying as recently as last week that the president does not “know what he’s doing” and coddles dictators.
A law enforcement source told Associated Press that a first package addressed to Biden was intercepted at a Delaware postal facility this morning, and was similar to others sent so far.
The source wasn’t authorised to discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.
None of the devices discovered so far have exploded, but they have underscored heightened political tensions and national fears weeks before the crucial US midterm elections.
This morning, the NYPD that it was dealing with “reports of a suspicious package in the vicinity of Greenwich and Franklin streets in Tribeca, Manhattan.”
NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill tweeted that the package has now been removed and is being taken to a secure facility.

Actor Robert DeNiro owns a number of buildings at the city block, including the Tribeca Grill restaurant and Tribeca Productions, and AP is reporting that the package was sent to DeNiro.
Citing sources, AP is also reporting that the package sent to DeNiro “appears linked” to the mail bombs sent to Democrats.
The US Secret Service said yesterday it intercepted packages sent to both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
As well as being known to be a Democratic donor, DeNiro has been a vocal critical of US President Donald Trump.
