Gardaí investigate after suspect device thrown into house last night

No one was on the house at the time of the attack and no injuries were reported.

GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for information after a suspect device was thrown into a house in Limerick overnight.

The device was thrown through a window at a house, located at Galvone Road, Kennedy Park, shortly before 1am.

A number of houses in the area were evacuated and a Defence Forces (EOD) Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was requested by gardaí to attend the scene.

No one was on the house at the time of the attack and no injuries were reported.

A Garda spokesman stated:

At 12.43am, gardaí were called to Galvone Road, Kennedy Park, Limerick following the discovery of a suspect device which was thrown through the window of a house.

“The area was evacuated and an Army EOD Unit attended the scene. The device was subsequently removed by the EOD unit for further examination.”

Gardaí said that the area had been deemed safe and that the people evacuated had been returned to their homes.

The spokesman added:

A garda investigation has commenced at Roxboro Road Garda Station. We are asking for the public’s help and anyone who may have been in the Kennedy Park, Glasgow Park and Roxboro Road areas this morning, 22 September, between 12.10am and 1am.
