How long have you waited for a driving test?

The national average waiting time for a driving test is 24.1 weeks for new applicants.

THE ROAD SAFETY Authority (RSA) has said that they aim to have 200 driver testers in November in a bid to reduce the current backlog for learner drivers.

A spokesperson for the RSA told the Irish Independent that there is an “unprecedented demand” for driving tests, with applications rising significantly since 2021. 

The RSA aims for driving test wait times of 10 weeks, but the national average is currently 24.1 weeks.
