Man due in court over €500k ecstasy haul

A total of five people were arrested, following a sweep of six addresses across Dublin on Tuesday.

A MAN IS due before court at the Criminal Courts of Justice on Dublin’s Parkgate Street this afternoon in connection with Tuesday’s massive seizure of ecstasy, worth an estimated €500,000.

A total of five people were arrested following raids at a number of premises across Crumlin Road, Tallaght and Clondalkin.

An initial search of the address on Crumlin Road led to the arrests of four men, aged between their 20s and 30s.

In the follow-up searches, of five separate premises around 50,000 tablets, believed to be ecstasy were seized, along with equipment and chemicals.

A woman in her 20s was also detained in Clondalkin as part of the operation – which was carried out by the National Drugs Unit, with support from local gardaí.

The other four people questioned have since been released, with files to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The man appearing in court this afternoon is aged in his 30s. He’s due before Dublin District Court 3 at 2pm.
