Dublin Racing Festival to go ahead at Leopardstown today

Yesterday’s racing card was postponed until Monday following 17mm of rainfall on Leopardstown racecourse Friday night.

TODAY’S DUBLIN RACING Festival at Leopardstown will go ahead after the track was declared fit to race.

Yesterday’s racing card was postponed until Monday following 17mm of rainfall on Leopardstown racecourse Friday night.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board announced this morning that racing would go ahead following an early morning inspection.

“Leopardstown racecourse was found to be fit for racing and today’s fixture goes ahead First race at 12.40pm,” it said on X.

Paddy Graffin, IHRB Clerk of the Course, said this morning that “the rain gods have been good to us” for once this week.

Graffin said the hurdle track “remains heavy” with loose, sloppy ground, while the chase track is soft.

The annual racing festival attracts crowds of around 25,000 from Ireland and abroad.

Eight Grade One races take place over the weekend, with over €2m in prize money up for grabs.
