E-scooter rider dies following collision in Waterford city this morning

The man in his 40s was pronounced dead at University Hospital Waterford.

A MAN IN his 40s has died following a collision between a car and an e-scooter in Waterford city.

The collision happened at the junction of Manor Hill and Hennessy’s Road at around 11am this morning.

The e-scooter rider was taken to University Hospital Waterford, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a man in his 80s, was also taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí attended the scene and carried out a technical examination, and roads in the area remain closed, with local diversions in place.

Investigators have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact gardaí, particularly those with dash-cam footage or who were travelling in the area between 10.45am and 11.15am.
