Biography

Elected first as an Independent Roscommon county councillor in 2004, he has ran for the Dáil three times unsuccessfully. Now a member of the Labour Party, he was elected to the Seanad in 2011. He is the party Seanad spokesperson on arts, heritage and Gaeltacht affairs and training and skills.

Most polls indicate that the next government will be FG/Lab with some others, and a government TD is of more value than an opposition one.

What is your number one priority for your constituency?

Attracting real jobs to rural Ireland through tax incentives away from cities where there are housing shortages.

What one thing would you like to do in your first 100 days of the new Dáil if you are elected?

To convince the new government to adopt my Wind Turbines Bill to ensure proper setback distances from people\'s homes.
