Renua was founded in March 2015 by a group of former Fine Gael TDs and led by Lucinda Creighton who resigned from the party in 2016. The party currently has no elected politician after former leader John Leahy stepped down from the party in 2019. It is a broadly right-wing, economically liberal party.
